- NAIMAN--Lee, died at home on September 30, 2010. Her many close friends and family feel so lucky to have known her and her remarkable spirit. She was born in Baltimore on September 2, 1926, and attended Goucher College. Lee met her husband of 59 years, Dr. Robert Naiman, in Paris. They have three children by birth, Eric, Cara and Tom; three by marriage, Anne Nesbet, Clark Sugg and Marguerite Holloway; and eight grandchildren, Kate, Thera, Caroline, Eleanor, Ada, Sarah, Auden and Julian. Lee is also survived by her brother, Leonard Helfgott, and his family. Lee loved travel, art, music, theater and intense discussion, and inspired her children and grandchildren to embrace the world. She founded the international rental agency At Home Abroad, as well as Tapestry Associates and Lee Naiman Fine Art, collecting and selling works by many artists, including Nevelson, Warhol and Gunter Grass. She was a dedicated board member of Global Kids and NARAL New York. Lee lived her life fully, with great love, generosity and dynamism. She loved pistachio ice cream, yellow tulips, oysters, the human spirit and scrabble. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent in her honor to Global Kids, 137 East 25th Street, New York, NY 10010.
