- Chuck Dalby passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at his home in Sherwood, MD after a short but courageous battle with Lymphoma. Chuck was born in Chicago where he spent much of his young life, moving to California in the late 70's. He later lived in Atlanta before settling in Washington, DC and the Eastern Shore of Maryland for the past 15 years with his husband, Dr. Bruce Rashbaum.Chuck received a scholarship award to the Art Institute of Chicago, later graduating with a degree in Fine Art from Southern Illinois University in 1968 and a Masters in Special Education from Northeastern University. Professionally, he was a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools, before pursuing a long and successful career in Graphic Arts launching his own firm, Chuck Dalby and Associates. He branched out in Atlanta as the Artistic Director for photography and advertising for several major modeling agencies and major Department stores. For the last 15 years, Chuck was a Realtor in the DC metropolitan area and St. Michael's, MD.Chuck had an appetite for life always living to the fullest. Some of his fondest memories were spent traveling with his many friends and family far and wide, and running a B/B in the winter months in Akamal, Mexico in the middle 90's. He had a great love of gardening , cooking, and boating spending many long days on the "Charlie Girl". Chuck will most be missed for his gentle ability to understand and bring people together. His friendships were long lasting and he dedicated himself to the 6 P's: Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dlabaj. He is survived by his loving husband, Dr. Bruce Rashbaum, his son, Dr. Ethan Meisel and daughter-in-law, Vanessa, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Ella. He is further survived by a large extended family, his mother, Neva Dlabaj, loving sister, Sandy Ehrig and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and the best friends ever who supported him through his journey.A Celebration of his Life will take place on June 27, 2015, 4 to 8 p.m. at 920 I St NW, City Centre Residences. Contributions may be made to the Human Rights Campaign in his memory.
