Abraham I. Zimmer age 95 of Bridgeport, CT., died on Sunday October 6, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was married to the late Sarah Zimmer for 57 years. He graduated in 1939 from M.I.T. with a degree in mechanical engineering, and was the chief executive of Specialties Manufacturing Company until 1975, when he joined Sikorsky Aircraft. He retired as an engineer in 2006 when he was 88 years old. He held various offices at Congregation Ahavath Achim, including President, and was honored with the Builders Award in 2008. He was a member of the United Jewish Appeal, the United Jewish Campaign and the Probus Club, and made generous contributions to many charities. He is survived by his children, Stephen Zimmer, Theodore Zimmer, and Judith Zimmer, his grandchildren Auryn Zimmer, and Camilla Cinquini, his great grandchildren Dominic Cinquini and Sebastian Cinquini, and in-laws, Patti Zimmer, Dick Perry, Dina Mozden, and Tony Cinquini. Services will take place on Tuesday October 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM directly at Ahavath Achim Cemetery on Reid Street in Fairfield.
