- Former travel agent and longtime bridge player Born Selda Miller in Baltimore and raised on Springdale Avenue, she attended the old Robert E. Lee School and was a 1926 graduate of Western High School. For many years, she was an agent for Burton Travel on Reisterstown Road. She led tours to California, Europe and Hawaii. Her husband of 66 years, I. Jack Parks, a pharmacist who operated drugstores at North and Linden avenues and at Pennsylvania Avenue and McMechen Street, died in 1998. A nursing volunteer at area hospitals during World War II, Mrs. Parks was a duckpin bowler and competed in a Beth Tfiloh league during the 1940s and 1950s. She also played golf at Bonnie View Country Club. She was an American contract bridge life master, and also earned the title of bronze life master
