- Harold S. Himelfarb, 84, the former owner of Standard Pontiac in College Park who retired in 1990 after 36 years as owner of Standard Leasing in Hyattsville, died of pneumonia Oct. 15 at Suburban Hospital. He had Alzheimer's disease.
Mr. Himelfarb, who lived in Bethesda, was a native of Baltimore. He began his career driving an oil truck and later owned an Amoco service station at Georgia Avenue and Sheridan Street NW. He was owner of Greenway Motors, a used-car business in Washington, before becoming a car dealer.
Mr. Himelfarb was a Mason and a member of the Progress Club, Indian Spring Country Club, Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase and B'nai Israel Congregation, formerly in Washington and now in Rockville.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marion Himelfarb of Bethesda; two children, Sheldon Himelfarb of Potomac and Carolyn Hayman of Rockville; two brothers; a sister; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
