- Rona Barbara (Hyman) Kappalman, 77, of Asheville, died Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Heritage Hills in Hendersonville.
Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the wife of Ronald Kappalman of Asheville, and the daughter of the late Henry H. and Selma (Schwartz) Hyman.
Rona was a member of Congregation Beth Ha Tephila in Asheville.
She was a school teacher for 37 years, having taught in Chicago, Maryland, and Florida, where she was also involved in soccer. She was a guardian ad Litem in Buncombe County after her retirement.
Rona loved needlepoint and along with her husband was a world traveler.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by a son, Brad Kappalman and his wife Samantha of Asheville; a daughter, Carrie Wiesenfeld and her husband Ken of Parkland, FL; and five grandchildren: Max, Dane, Blake, Devon, and Ryan.
Services will be held at a later date in North Lauderdale, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer s Association of Western North Carolina, 31 College Place, Suite Doppler 103, Asheville, NC 28801.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
